The College warmly welcomed the newly admitted Batch 2031 students last June 26, 2026 through the “LUKANS AT WORK: 2026 Freshmen Orientation Program” held at the Angelo King Auditorium at the building’s Penthouse level. The theme of the event utilized the widely-known Japanese anime “Cells at Work!” as its reference for the wondrous and eye-catching decors and stage design that balances medical knowledge and aesthetic colors reflective of the College. From registration to the event’s conclusion, the organizing Batch 2030 together with the Lukan administration ensured that the program was smooth, engaging, and fun-filled through their organized flow, team activities, and the newly introduced Lukan Learning Circuit.

The FOP (Freshmen Orientation Program) started with the registration of almost 170 students from Batch 2031, with them being assigned to different named teams like Erythrocyte Ensemble, Alveolar Architects, and Podocyte Playmakers to name a few. They were each given a Lukan loot bag filled with small goodies courtesy of the organizers. Further welcoming was given by the SLCM Dance Company through an electrifying opening performance. The program, hosted by Mr. Gerbi Miranda and Ms. Angel Mallillin, continued with the warm welcome from our administrators through the opening speech by our very own Dean and Chief Academic Officer, Maria Isabel M. Atienza, MD, MHPEd. Dean Atienza shared her greetings to the freshmen and gladly accepted them as part of the Lukan community. Presenting the mechanics of the Lukan Learning Circuit was our College Secretary and Assistant to the Dean, Maritoni Jane A. Catan, MD who shared that this new initiative aimed to introduce what SLMCCM-WHQM has to offer in its services, curriculum, facilities, and protocols. This was met with enthusiasm by the freshmen as they readily engaged and attended each assigned station with varying topics and lectures.

Going into the afternoon program, Batch 2031 was met with a wave of student-led activities and games named “The Great Circulation”. It started with a plenary activity where all teams competed with their representatives in a series of mini-games like trivia and guess the object. It was followed by roaming around the different stations across several floors for more fun-filled activities such as “Flip the Card”, “Tunnel Vision”, and “Hippocampi: The Memory Game”. They were also able to mingle and meet different teams through a “Boat is Sinking” team-based sessions held at the 10th and 11th Floor Plenary Halls. The Penthouse Lobby was also designated as a photowall area where each team was able to take a picture which was given to them as a token near the end of the program. Several student organizations and their representatives were also present to showcase for the freshmen what they have to offer. They were led by the SLMCCM-WHQM Student Council. Ms. Lyarah Locsin and Ms. Bea Bajet, the head organizers from Batch 2030, gave their closing and gratitude speeches to officially close the event.
