SLMCCM-WHQM to Host 2022 Convention of the Association of Philippine Medical Colleges

The St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine-William H. Quasha Memorial will be hosting the 2022 Annual Convention of the Association of Philippine Medical Colleges (APMC), the umbrella organization of medical schools in the Philippines. The event will be held virtually from June 7 to 10, 2022.
The convention theme is: “Reimagining the Future of Philippine Medical Education: Preparing Graduates to Address Global and Local Health Priorities in the Post-COVID World.” The objectives of the convention are to:
- Introduce the principles of futures thinking and their application in medical education and practice
- Examine the importance of integrating interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary perspectives in medical curricula towards creating agents of system change
- Showcase concrete, evidence-based and outcome-based innovative strategies for 21st century medical education
- Present strategies for engagement towards supporting professional identity formation for faculty and students
“We are thrilled to be selected as the 2022 host of the annual APMC convention, which is one of our network’s most-awaited events,” expressed Dr. Susan Pelea Nagtalon, Dean and Chief Academic Officer of SLMCCM-WHQM. “Even before the pandemic, our school has been preparing for the future, through our various initiatives related to digitalization and the incorporation of planetary and global health into our curriculum. We hope to share our innovations with our colleagues in the Philippine medical education community.”
The convention will showcase plenary sessions, panel discussions, a scientific paper competition, exhibitions, and other activities. There will also be pre-convention workshops on various topics related to medical education.
