Basic Science Research

Basic science research involves the study of the fundamental principles and advances in molecular biology as applied to biomedical research and clinical practice.  Students will be oriented in the conduct of research in molecular medicine, which involves the application of cell and molecular biology, biotechnology, and bioinformatics in addressing the current gaps in our knowledge of health and disease. Training at the advanced laboratories of the college and the Research and Biotechnology Group will also equip the students with the basic skills and understanding of technologies in order to promote application of research outputs from “bench to the clinic”. All these while inculcating the awareness of integrity in research, adherence to safety in the laboratory, and accountability to the scientific community and society will help produce ethical and responsible researchers.
