Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is a basic science department of the St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine that is composed of medical doctors who are practicing clinicians with strong foundation in the biochemistry and molecular biology as well as non-medical doctors who have Doctor of Philosophy or Master degrees in the biomedical sciences. It aims to foster in medical students not only academic excellence in biochemistry and molecular biology but to also provide a robust foundation and interest in medical research.

The course offered prepares the medical student with basic and applied knowledge through meticulously crafted interactive lectures, laboratory and research-based activities. The department’s laboratory suites located in the college have been upgraded and designed to provide opportunities for hands-on experiments relevant to the field of medicine. It is fully equipped with machines and kits that aid in the application of concepts learned in the classroom. The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology continuously evolves and strives to always be dynamic in keeping up with the advances in medicine and research aimed to promote excellent patient and health care.
