About SLMCCM-WHQM
The St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine-William H. Quasha Memorial, Inc. (SLMCCM-WHQM) stands as a testament to the visionary leadership of Atty. William H. Quasha, who founded the institution in 1994 with the ambitious goal of becoming a center of excellence in medical education and research.
Initially known as the St. Luke’s College of Medicine (SLCM), the College is housed in a 14-storey building adjacent to the St. Luke’s Medical Center – Quezon City, which serves as the base hospital for clinical training. This strategic location has allowed students to benefit from hands-on experiences and exposure to real-world medical scenarios from the start of their academic journey.
In 2018, the institution was officially renamed as SLMCCM-WHQM to reinforce its deep integration with St. Luke’s Medical Center, which had expanded its reach with a second hospital in Global City.
The College offers an innovative, integrated 5-year medical curriculum designed to cultivate clinical excellence, ethical integrity, compassion, and professionalism among its graduates. Since 2009, SLMCCM-WHQM has consistently excelled in the Physicians’ Licensure Examination, maintaining a 100% passing rate for first-time takers from 2009 to 2020. This achievement earned the institution the distinction of being recognized as the top-performing medical school by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) in 2016 and 2017.
In 2018, the College achieved Level 1 accreditation from the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU). It continued its trajectory of excellence by attaining PAASCU Level 2 accreditation in 2023. In 2024, SLMCCM-WHQM became the second medical school in the Philippines to be admitted as a member of the prestigious ASEAN Medical Schools Network, further solidifying its reputation in regional medical education.
In addition to its Doctor of Medicine program, SLMCCM-WHQM offers a Master of Science in Molecular Medicine, providing advanced training in cutting-edge biomedical research and molecular diagnostics.
Through its commitment to academic excellence, ethical practice, and transformative medical education, SLMCCM-WHQM continues to shape the next generation of physician-leaders dedicated to advancing healthcare both in the Philippines and globally.
With the unwavering support of the SLMCCM Board of Trustees and the leadership of President and CEO Dr. Dennis Serrano and Dean and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Maria Isabel Atienza, SLMCCM aspires to be the leading medical school in the country, while also strengthening international collaborations with prestigious institutions. Poised to reach even greater heights, the College continues to forge a unique identity as a top-tier institution in innovative medical education.
