25th Grand Alumni Homecoming | July 5–11, 2026

The St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine William H. Quasha Memorial (SLMCCM-WHQM) Alumni Association celebrated its 25th Grand Alumni Homecoming with Batch 2001 serving as this year’s Silver Jubilarians and homecoming hosts. Guided by the theme “Two Thousand One, Lukan as One: Twenty Five Years of Healing, Giving Back and Inspiring the Future,” the week-long celebration brought together alumni, faculty, administrators, students, and friends of the College in a meaningful tribute to the institution that has shaped generations of physicians.

More than a reunion, the week-long celebration reaffirmed the enduring connection between the College and its alumni. It highlighted a shared legacy of service, lifelong friendships, gratitude to mentors, and a collective commitment to giving back while helping shape the future of the institution.

Bringing Hope and Healing

The celebration opened on July 5 with “Lukan as One: Bringing Hope and Healing,” an outreach activity at Bahay Aruga in Paco, Manila. As a halfway house that provides accommodation and support for children undergoing cancer treatment and their families, Bahay Aruga became the setting for Batch 2001’s first homecoming activity.

Rather than beginning the celebration with festivities, the batch chose to begin by giving back. Alumni spent time with the children and their caregivers, sharing meals, gifts, and moments of encouragement. The activity reflected the healing mission that has always been at the heart of the medical profession and served as a reminder that compassion extends beyond clinics, hospitals, and operating rooms.

A Homecoming to Remember

The official homecoming activities continued on July 9 with the traditional Parade of Batches, where alumni from different generations walked together through the College grounds in a symbolic return to the institution where their journey in medicine began. Following the parade, alumni gathered for breakfast before participating in an ecumenical Thanksgiving Mass, offering an opportunity to reconnect, reflect, and give thanks for the blessings and milestones of the past twenty-five years.

Honoring Twenty-Five Years of the Silver Jubilarians

The Alumni Recognition Ceremony celebrated the Silver Jubilarians of Batch 2001 as they marked twenty-five years since graduating from the College. The recognition honored not only professional accomplishments but also the friendships, mentorships, and shared experiences that have endured through the years.

A Vision That Began with Faith

One of the most memorable moments of the homecoming was the keynote message of St. Luke’s Medical Center President Dr. Dennis P. Serrano, who once again reflected on a story that has become a hallmark of his annual address to alumni.

He reminded the audience that the College began as what many today would describe as a start-up. At a time when the College had yet to establish its reputation, those who enrolled believed in the vision of William H. Quasha and the founders who dreamed of building a medical school founded on excellence, compassion, and service.

Those pioneering students took a leap of faith. They chose to become part of something that was still being built, trusting that the institution would one day become a center for medical education that would shape generations of physicians.

Dr. Serrano reflected that every succeeding class—including Batch 2001—has helped transform that vision into reality. Looking toward the future, he shared plans for the College’s continued growth through a new academic building and reaffirmed its commitment to investing in future Lukans through scholarships and educational opportunities. While facilities continue to expand, he emphasized that the true strength of the College has always been its people.

A Celebration of Legacy and Fellowship

The week-long celebration concluded on July 11 with the Grand Alumni Gala Night at the Quezon City Sports Club. The evening featured messages from College and hospital leaders, recognition of faculty members, presentation of Batch 2001’s legacy gifts to the College, and the formal turnover of homecoming hosting responsibilities to Batch 2002.

The celebration concluded with “Rewind 2001: The Moments That Made Us Lukans,” followed by a homecoming toast, a grand batch photograph, and fellowship among alumni, faculty, and guests.

Lukan as One

The 25th Grand Alumni Homecoming was more than a celebration of twenty-five years since graduation. It was a reaffirmation of the values that have united generations of Lukans—service, excellence, gratitude, and giving back.

From bringing hope to children at Bahay Aruga to honoring mentors, celebrating lifelong friendships, and supporting the future of the College, Batch 2001 demonstrated that the Lukan spirit continues well beyond the classroom. Twenty-five years after graduation, Batch 2001 came home not only to celebrate where their journey began, but also to reaffirm their commitment to the generations of physicians who will continue the vision first embraced by those who believed in the dream of William H. Quasha. Through that shared purpose, they remain, now and always, Lukan as One.
